Browne Barr (1917 - 2009) went to San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo as professor of preaching in 1977 and then served two terms as dean of the Faculty. He retired in 1983. Born in Denver, Colorado, Barr was a graduate of Grinnell College (1939) and Yale Divinity School (1942). From 1942-1953 he served three Congregational churches in Connecticut. From 1953-1960 he was professor of preaching at Yale Divinity School. From 1960-1977 he was senior minister at First Congregational Church of Berkeley United Church of Christ.
