• Webb speaks on Judges 1:1–21. The book opens following Joshua’s death, a pivotal moment in Israel’s history. Before his passing, Joshua guided the people in godly living and settling their allotted land, providing a tangible example of faithfulness. The opening section reflects his immediate legacy. The people demonstrate their commitment to God by seeking His guidance, and Israel shows unity by cooperating across tribes in the conquest. God blesses their efforts, granting them victories. Two Through the instrument of Judah, God brings judgement to Canaan. In the story of Caleb's daughter depicts God's blessing demonstrated through land, blessing, marriage, and fertility. The general picture of the passage is God's abundant blessing upon His people. In keeping with the previous promise of Jacob found in Genesis, Judah's leading role amongst the nation is confirmed by the Lord. The rulership of Judah continues to develop throughout biblical history, fulfilled ultimately in Christ.
