Sankofa Working Files - Congregations

Actions

These working files include records documenting the actions, activities, and responses to issues of race in Unitarian, Universalist, and Unitarian Universalist congregations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The congregations covered represent 24 states in the US and 2 Canadian provinces. Materials include congregational newsletters, directories, photographs, interview transcripts, newspaper clippings, sermons, flyers and other ephemera. At present these working files represent primarily the accumulated research of Rev. Dr. Mark Morrison-Reed in conjunction with students in his course, “African-Americans and the Unitarians, Universalists, and Unitarian Universalists” at Meadville Lombard Theological School.
