This collection is comprised of the records of The New York League of Unitarian Women. The League was formed in 1887 by women from Unitarian churches in New York City, Brooklyn, and Yonkers, New York. An associate branch of the national League of Unitarian Women, they "organized for the purpose of promoting closer fellowship among its members, awakening and sustaining a real interest in religious worship, ethics and philanthropy." Meetings were held on the first Friday of every month at member congregations throughout New York City and its suburbs, with wide ranging topics and special speakers, followed by a luncheon. The very first meeting was held at Unitarian Church of All Souls, New York (then called the Church of the Messiah) on Friday, November 4th, 1887. Materials include scrapbooks, by-laws, member directories, photographs, event programs, and monthly meeting announcement cards.
