'Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.' Preached in the camp of the 18th Regiment, Va. Volunteers, at Centreville, Fairfax Co. Va. August, 1861. [illegible] 1866." An unknown hand has crossed out the sentence beginning "Preached in." There are editing marks in pencil on the first page written by an unknown person.
