Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library, Duke University);Format: Manuscript gatherings.;Title supplied by cataloger.;Layout: Written in 2 columns of 26 lines; 26 lines ruled on the hair side.;Script: The hand is a fine example from about 935. The smooth, flowing characteristics are those found in the period before 950. It is a clearly written minuscule hand, vertical, round and open, with distinctive penlifts. There are few uncials strewn throughout the text. Some later marginal notes; two alphabets written upside down in the fore-margin of fol. 6.;Decoration: Elegant pi-shaped headpieces appear on fol. 1r, 3v, 23v, 34v, and 37r. At the beginning of each section a decorated initial is supplied, and the numbers for the sections appear in the margins in Greek uncials, diplé. The illuminated headpieces, in metropolitan style, consist of flowers, leaves, quatrefoils or palmettes in blue, with red highlights, on gold panels. The title is written in gold majuscules inside the headpiece. The opening initials are set in the margins outside the column of text and are in gold, except that on f. 34v, which is in blue and red on a gold ground.;Title cataloged from existing description.;Part only of a larger manuscript, the volume is now misbound; fol. 1-4 should follow fol. 38.
