Description
  • Founded 1771, San Gabriel, California. The old church with its buttresses and campanario, or bell wall, is remarkably preserved. The largest bell, weighing nearly a ton, has rung the Angelus daily for over 150 years. From here set out the party of two priests and eleven families who founded the metropolis of Los Angeles.
