Victor Roland Gold (1924-2008) was born in Garden City, Kansas. Garden City, Kansas. He graduated from Wartburg Theological College, 1945, and received his PhD from John Hopkins University, 1951. After serving congregations in Texas, Maryland and Michigan, he accepted a position as Associate Professor of Old Testament at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1956. He worked on many excavations, such as Beer Sheva; provided hundreds of entries to the Oxford Annotated Bible and the Interpreter's Dictionary of the Bible; and was active in the founding and development of the Graduate Theological Union. He served PLTS for over 50 years.
