A note attached to the photograph states: "Sunday School Class 1928-These men [were] known as Pastors Helpers. 1st Row: Mr. Jackson, Mr. Moss, Mr. Hudson, Dr. Edwards, Mr. Martin, Mr. Little, Mr. Neighbors. 2nd Row: Mr. Jones, Dr. Boyd, Byron Jones, Mr. Kerr, Mr. Newton,??. 3rd Row: Mr. Callen, Mr. Frisby, Mr. Cauthen, Mr. Pate". At the time this photograph was taken, Dr. James R. Edwards was pastor of Auburn First Baptist Church. Organized in 1838, the church is a member of the Tuskegee Lee Baptist Association.
