  • Lithograph of John Bodkin Link. 1881. On May 7, 1828, J. B. Link was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia. He was converted in 1840 and baptized in 1841. In 1853 he graduated from Georgetown College, Kentucky. Two years later he graduated from Rochester Theological Seminary. Link pastored churches at Paris, Kentucky, and Liberty, Missouri. He also was an agent for William Jewell College for two years. During the Civil War, he served as a Confederate chaplain. After the war, the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention sent him to Texas as a missionary. He served as publisher and editor of the Texas Baptist Journal for many years.
