Brooklyn College, founded in 1930, is part of the City University of New York. The student body
reflects the city population and its proud immigrant history. Coming from over 140 different
countries and speaking 92 languages, 31% of the over 17,000 students at BC are first generation
college students, and 33% were born outside the U.S.

The Archives and Special Collections division is committed to acquiring, preserving, and providing access to the records that document the Brooklyn College community and the Borough of Brooklyn, as well as the papers and memorabilia of individuals who have national and social importance. The Archives supports the educational mission of the College through collaboration with faculty, exhibits, and promoting and providing access to our collections through our website and digital platform Illumira.
